PAY ATTENTION!!

Go to this site! The above button IS a link to the site, Cursed MoonS. The site belongs to a girl named Akane, and she is AMAZING. She makes her own games, and specialized in Yami no Matsuei. She has a cute art style, and just won the right to have her very own manga published in her country. I hope to see more of her work in the future, and I ask that you also support this talented girl by putting a link up to her site on your profile like I have. She has several different buttons on the site, so you can choose one that you'd like. Please spread the joy!
Did I mention this person is my fucking hero?
"I'd like to start by noting that, from what I've seen of it, I like the graphics in Growlanser II, and that includes the character sprites. They're very well detailed, seem to fit in with the rest of the graphics, and complement the character portraits quite well. It almost seems to me like SCEA has a very monolithic view of what good graphics are. Graphics don't NEED to be 3d or realistic to look good, and I think Growlanser II's graphics look great, beautiful even. I feel that SCEA is being very narrow-minded in giving WD problems because of the character sprites.
However, that is not really the greater problem. The greater problem is SCEA's entire attitude about the approval process. As I understand it, one of the main purposes of the process is to make sure that games released for the PS2 don't harm the image of the system in some way. That's a legitimate concern, given the piles of lousy software that tarnished Atari's reputation beck in the early-to-mid 80s. However, their choice of games to reject and/or give the publisher hassles over seems to make no sense. If I spent my entire life searching, does anybody here think I could find a single person who would think less of the PS2 as a console or Sony as a company, because it has Growlanser II? I would have to think that the kind of gamer who wouldn't like Growlanser II would simply choose to ignore the game, and wouldn't think any less of the PS2 or its overall software library. On the other hand, there are many people who think less of Sony because of the hassles they give games like Growlanser II (I'm one of them, as should be obvious from this rant). Part of what made the PSOne great and what can make the PS2 great is all the niche software, especially among the RPG genre, available for it. Growlanser II may not appeal to the average gamer, but there's a rather large segment of gamers out there that it does appeal to, and it's a game that offers a unique play experience, one you couldn't find on, say, the X-box. By trying to prevent the publication of such titles, Sony is sabotaging a natural advantage of their own machine, and making many gamers very, very angry. It seems to me like they're shooting themselves in the foot here."
